Executive Briefing

Solving the AI Governance Problem

28 June 2024
Online

The rise of AI changes the nature of risks for universities including fairness, data privacy, biases and misuse at the same time as organisations seek to foster innovation and trust. AI-based tools and innovations are being introduced into education institutions at an unprecedented rate, requiring organisations to define clear and usable AI governance frameworks. In this Executive Briefing, we consider how governance can support best-practice responses to emerging technology and innovation in a university context.

An up-to-date mapping of the state of the art will be presented, and we will discuss the approaches that can be observed with the rise of different governance styles globally. The panelists will then explore possible AI governance models with policies, ethical guidelines, standards, and practices in the context of higher education.
